London 2012 Home Head Journey

Why we’re getting behind Sophia Warner and London 2012.

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local T35 100m and 200m runner Sophia Warner, as she attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the London 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

Sophia Warner trains locally, in Brighton, with the Worthing Harriers sprint squad and at Lee Valley Athletics Centre in London. Dorking born Sophia has been running since the age of 16 and has already won a bronze and silver medal this year at the IPC Athletics World Championships in New Zealand.

"I am absolutely delighted to have been chosen by Chandlers Brighton as part of their involvement in London 2012. Firstly, it is great to have the local support and to know that they are behind me all the way. Over and above this, it is great to be driving such a fabulous car. The MINI Countryman is already proving to be a great and fun family car." Sophia added, "It will be an enormous help getting me to my races all over the country and I am sure it will continue to turn heads everywhere that I go!"

Martin Walsh, Dealer Principal at Chandlers Brighton, says "Chandlers Brighton are delighted to be able to provide sponsorship in the form of a MINI Countryman to help Sophia Warner realise her ambition of representing Great Britain in the London 2012 Paralympic Games. We wish her every success in securing a medal in these Games."
